Ivanka, you're our only hope to cure Coronavirus.

 Did you use to have a life and now don't? 

I know that there are tens of millions of people in the USA who have been effected by Trump's mismanagement of the Coronavirus. Not only the medical aspects but financial ruin too.

So far I am lucky enough to say that I haven't been infected and suffered the horrors which this thing is inflicting on many people.

I feel for those who have had to unnecessarily suffer because of the fact that Trump is completely inept in every way.

If you are one of the cult members, I know the virus came from China. Once it came here though, it was up to our government to protect it's citizens. You're a Republican so you know protecting the citizens is the primary job of the federal government. Right?

That is why we pay taxes.

I'm glad I'm not sick yet. I am however being beaten down financially.

I remember being a productive, hard working member of society who was able to make a living and pay for everything I did or used. I actually had a career that was exciting and sometimes fun. There was even enough money left over for beer.

Hell I could afford health insurance, something citizens of civilized countries get included with their taxes.

Now I can't even afford to become an alcoholic. Too bad as that might help my general attitude move in a more positive direction.

Too think that was only 5 months ago!

In any case I hope you are better off then me right now.

And don't get me wrong, I am grateful to have a job cleaning restrooms 18 hours a week, which after expenses for the month will net me $73.

Can one be an alcoholic for $73?

I suppose if I stop eating?

Maybe we will get lucky and Trump will lose the election. Is there enough smart people in the USA to make that happen anymore? Otherwise we live like this until Ivanka gets the virus and suffers a long and horrible protracted death. A death which Trump  gets to witness from a bubble boy suit, or miss, like the 155,000 other American families have when their loved ones went into a hospital never to be seen again.

Only then will Donald Trump take the virus seriously and make every effort to fix things like he should have done from the beginning. 

Do the patriotic thing Ivanka, you're our only hope!

My mother told me I'm a horrible person because I would say something like that out loud!

Can I be a good person by thinking it, but holding my tongue?

I forgot to ask how it rates if I just write it down.

Personally I'm not holding out hope for this scenario, so everyone please vote Biden or we are doomed.

What the fuck is this blog?

It started as a place to bitch about stupidity in a written form. I suppose with Covid, and being stuck sheltering in place, sometimes it's easy to get angry. 

After losing my long term girlfriend, our home, my dad, and then my career it's easy to be angry and have time left over for writing.

At least I'm luckier then some to have a job that sucks and barely pays for the gas to get to it. So there's that, right?

When I first wrote on here it was about cleaning up after tigers.

At least the part of the job before the cleanup was fun.

Now only the cleanup is left.

I wish I could sit in a Starbucks to write this. But the park is nice today.

I just miss "normal' life sometimes. Not all of it, but a lot.

I'm not going to expect things to be even close to normal again for a long time. That will only lead to disappointment.

It's hard to watch the stupid, who are unable or unwilling to deal with that fact, though. They keep making it take longer for this whole nightmare to go away.That makes me angry, hence why it shows up here.

This plague is a problem that will be measured in years though, not months. I think the rest of the world has mostly figured this out already, but not the USA. In the US everybody is looking for the quick fix, as usual. The "hopefull" way, the stupid way.

So we will be the sickest, the most dead and the longest lasting place for this disaster. USA We're Number 1!

Maybe if project warpspead works out and science finds a way to immunize people from the virus, they can look for a cure for stupid next.

Now I'm just being hopeful.

The Death of the Postal Service

Let's talk about the US postal Service. I like the USPS, you probably do too. Most people never really think about the post office at all.

Right now though would be a good time to think about the post office before it's gone forever.

"That could never happen," I hear you say. Well you're wrong.

Somewhere in the mid-aught years the Republican party decided they hated the post office and so came up with a plan to destroy it. They made the post office prefund retirement 75 years into the future. This means people who have not even been born yet, who may work for the post office 30 or 40 years from now maybe 50 even 60 years from now would be guaranteed their retirement because  the money is already in the bank.

Think about that for a minute. Think about what other government services, or private businesses are required to do this. In case you're wondering the answer is none.

Up until the time that the postal service was required to do this, they ran within budget, were able to deliver every package on time (with the rare exception of a few that got there 90 years late and always made interesting news stories).

Since the Republicans did this the post office has been struggling.Once again a manufactured crisis, for the purpose of trying to commercialize a service of the government.

Remember again the postal Service is a government service, not a private business. It's like libraries, or city hall. You wouldn't expect to go to a privatized company to get your city hall business done or check out a book would you?

The post office was never meant to make a profit. And until the time of this pre-funded retirement law everything was going well.

After this requirement the post office asked to raise the price of stamps, but Congress consistently tells them no.

Now we are in the perfect storm. During this time of the pandemic, when we need mail in voting more than ever, so people are not exposed to the virus, standing in line to vote, Donald Trump is attacking the post office for multiple reasons.

First, since he cannot tell the states that they cannot do mail in voting, which he knows will hurt his party, he wants to destroy the postal service. This is his last ditch effort to get rid of vote by mail.

In addition, Trump hates the owner of Amazon who ships mostly through the USPS. He hates Jeff Bezos because Jeff Bezos also owns the Washington Post, which writes a lot of negative stories about Trump.

Trump complains that he thinks Amazon gets too good of a deal on the delivery of their items from the post service. Maybe he doesn't realize they are the biggest customer the USPS has. He wants the postal service to raise the price by five times.

If the post office did this Amazon would probably go somewhere else, the postal Service would lose their largest customer, and all of us would be stuck paying five times as much to mail anything.

So far Trump and McConnell have managed to keep any appropriated money out of all of the pandemic bills. since vote by mail is important during the pandemic it should be included. McConnell did include a $10 billion loan last time, knowing this would not carry them through the election but would result in the failure of the post service sometime in October.

In the last few weeks Trump has also installed a lackey by the name of Louis DeJoy as the postmaster general. DeJoy has absolutely no qualification for this job whatsoever, and is only there to destroy the post office as quickly as possible from the inside, as Trump has done with many government offices.

If something is not done about this situation in the very near future we are all in jeopardy of losing our postal service in the United States, during a presidential election in the middle of a pandemic.

Think about that when you slog your way through the snow to wait for hours in line in order to cast your vote in a room full of people with the flu and coved-19.

Then vote appropriately.

Jim Jordan is an idiot, and masks.

And now for something political.

As I watched Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio question Dr. Fauchi the other day, I came to realize, even more then before, what an idiot he is.

He was attempting to argue that people at recent protest were spreading the COVID-19 virus, so why couldn't people who wanted to participate in a political rally do the same?

Science says the virus will spread at either event. Virus doesn't care about politics.

The thing that kept eating at me, and nobody seems to think about at all including Jim Jordan, is that both events have one thing in common. That thing being Donald Trump.

It doesn't matter which event you support, right now neither should be attended. Although being a liberal person I think protesting against systematic racism and a government sending federal personnel against its own people in the streets of their home cities rates as more important than celebrating your favorite politician.

I personally was glad to see people protesting in the streets, it's been a long time coming. People are finally standing up for themselves in the face of coming fascism. It's just unfortunate timing.

In Germany, as they say, first they came for the Jews then they came for me. Here in America it's much the same story first they came for black people, then they came for the rest of us.

In the end the virus spreads at both events and people die. 
  
Which is more important, which event would you risk your life and that of your family and community for? I'll leave that up to you.

Just remember when you go to the polls this year, neither event would be taking place without one person. And that person is Donald Trump.

Moving along let's talk a little about masks. Nobody likes wearing a mask. Frankly if you're alone somewhere not near people I don't give a damn whether you do or not. When you get into a group of people though you should put one on. Some people think not wearing a mask represents freedom, because they have the choice not to wear one. 

I say not wearing pants is also freedom, but I don't think if I went for a walk around Walmart with my balls hanging out you would approve of it. You don't want my balls in your face? I don't want your Coronavirus.  If you breathe you can spread it. All humans are horrible and may have cooties now.

If it comes to stopping this virus by staying separated, wearing masks, doing testing, tracing and isolating people, because there is no vaccine yet then this is what will have to happen no matter how hard it may be for all of us.

The other solution would be make sure people in crowds without masks don't breathe, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't pick that option.

To sum it up, not wearing a mask in a group of unfamiliar people is like telling them,  "fuck you I don't  give a damn if you die of coronavirus."

Right Now Life is Shitty

For those of you who don't know me I should start out by telling you that for the last 38 years of my life I have been working in the entertainment business.
I primarily work in live events, on a stage. That's not to say I haven't done everything else too. I have in my past been a cameraman, photographer, editor, gaffer, grip, director, you name it.
Mostly I am a stagehand. I started in lighting and for the last many years have worked in the audio department as an A2.

Some of the acts I have shared a stage with include, Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, Prince, Dolly Parton, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Jay Leno, Ronnie James Dio, Metallica, the Ramones, a whole lot of Broadway shows and ballet, people like Elton John and Iggy Pop, Michael Jackson, and Frankie Avalon. This list could go on for pages, a lot of them.

In any case I was writing a book about my life, a memoir of sorts about my breakup with my girlfriend of eighteen years, my adventures with and without her and the memories of my work onstage with the many of the people I have worked with.

That's when Covid-19 happened.
Hard to do a live show with a raging virus loose. The day we got sent home from stage coincidentally was also the last day of my writing in my book, and the beginning of the long process of editing.

It was the first time in 41 years I found myself unemployed. I imagine many of you who are reading this did too.

I spent a few months quite happily at home, it was really the first time I have ever taken more than two weeks off at a time in my entire life. Luckily I had signed up for unemployment early, before the massive rush. So until this last week, I did like many people, enjoy my time off, while also panicking that I may never work again and would go broke and become homeless.

Recently though, the employer who owns the theater in which I work as a stagehand offered me some new work which would contribute more hours towards my pension fund.
It's kind of a shitty job though, and that's how I found myself working as a janitor.

Overall the job is not bad, mostly it's in mitigation of the virus. A lot of people who are eligible decided not to do the job. Maybe their pride got to them, but I don't have any pride, I'm a stagehand!

Today as I made my rounds I found myself standing in front of a toilet where someone had just visited in a rush because they were suffering from diarrhea. Instead of cleaning up after themselves they made a hasty exit probably thinking, "man I feel sorry for the guy who has to clean this shit up."

And that guy today was me.

It had to happen sometime, but I figured it would take more than 3 days. When I told my supervisor about it, as he returned from lunch, he laughed and said, "that doesn't happen very often, I'm surprised it happened so early to you."

Definitely now, a shitty job.

But I'll forge on until I can get back to working with famous people on stage again, although that may be a while.

I didn't think after leaving the stage I'd be doing much writing. I figured life wouldn't be as exciting anymore. Sometimes though you find interesting stories in the most mundane places.
So I guess I'll continue to write here as time goes on.

Maybe they'll be stories like this, maybe there will be some politics. Whatever crap is rolling around in my brain, that shit's going to come out all over this blog like that dude's diarrhea did on my fucking toilet.
